Types of Treatments Offered
Living with chronic pain can significantly impact your quality of life, limiting your ability to perform daily activities and diminishing your sense of well-being.
The Southern Inyo Hospital (SIH) Regenerative Medicine Program offers innovative treatment options to help manage and alleviate pain.
Visco Supplementation for Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition that can lead to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. For knee osteoarthritis patients at stages 3 and 4, Visco supplementation injects hyaluronic acid directly into the joint, acting as a lubricant and shock absorber. This procedure can help reduce pain, improve joint function, and allow for greater ease of movement.

Joint Injections for Inflammatory Arthritis and Bursitis
For those experiencing joint inflammation due to arthritis or bursitis, our program provides targeted joint injections that deliver corticosteroids or other medications directly to the site of inflammation. These injections effectively reduce pain and swelling, often providing relief within a few days. By addressing the inflammation at the source, patients can experience improved mobility and reduced reliance on oral medications that can sometimes lead to unwanted side effects.
Trigger Point Injections and Nerve Blocks for Shoulder and Knee Pain
Trigger point injections are designed for patients with muscle pain, stiffness, or spasms in areas like the shoulder or knee. They involve delivering medication directly into the painful muscle, helping to relieve discomfort and relax the muscle.
On the other hand, nerve blocks temporarily “block” nerve signals transmitting pain from the shoulder or knee. Both options offer temporary yet effective pain relief, allowing patients to engage in rehabilitation exercises that support long-term recovery.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
SIHD’s Regenerative Medicine Program also offers PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections. Platelets used in PRP injections contain multiple growth factors and other constituents that help stimulate healing, which is even more powerful when concentrated into PRP and injected directly into the injured tissue. PRP can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions, including:
- Knee Pain: from aging, injury, or degenerative conditions.
- Cartilage Damage: such as meniscal tears and other joint-related issues.
- Tendonitis and Ligament Injuries: affecting the knee, shoulder, or other areas.
- Joint Pain: associated with arthritis.
- Back Pain: conditions like herniated or bulging discs and sciatica.
- Shoulder Injuries: including torn rotator cuffs and labrum tears.
- Elbow Issues: such as tennis elbow and similar conditions.
- Foot and Ankle Pain: particularly plantar fasciitis.

Botox® for Chronic Migraines
Did you know that BOTOX® isn’t just used for cosmetic treatments?
It is also used to treat various medical conditions, including migraines. The injection works by blocking pain signals to the nerves, helping to reduce the frequency and severity of migraines.
If you or a loved one are experiencing more than 15 headache days per month, and you’ve tried other treatment methods for migraine headaches, ask your healthcare provider about BOTOX® as a treatment option. We have BOTOX® available at Southern Inyo Hospital and other headache treatments as part of our Regenerative Medicine Program.
