What is Infusion Therapy?
Southern Inyo Hospital is now offering infusion therapy as a way of delivering medication that can’t be taken orally, or that need to be dispensed at a regulated pace.
Infusions are ideal for individuals who require medication that cannot be administered orally or needs to be dispensed at a controlled, regulated pace. Whether you’re managing chronic conditions or undergoing treatment that requires frequent visits, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Infusion therapy is a form of medical treatment in which medication is delivered directly into the bloodstream via a needle or catheter, usually intravenously (through an IV). With infusion therapy, patients can receive antibiotics, hydration solutions, blood products, and even immunotherapy with oncology treatments in a controlled, effective manner.

Types of Infusion Therapy Offered at Southern Inyo Hospital
Our infusion treatments are administered by a dedicated and compassionate team of Registered Nurses, weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Southern Inyo Hospital offers the following types of infusion therapy:
- Hydration Infusions: Hydration infusions are essential for individuals who require fluid replacement due to dehydration, illness, or other conditions. Hydration infusions help restore vital electrolytes and improve overall health.
- Blood Product Infusions and Phlebotomy: Patients with blood disorders can receive safe, regulated infusions of necessary blood products. Additionally, our facility provides therapeutic phlebotomy, which is the removal of blood to treat conditions like hemochromatosis.
- Antibiotic Infusions: For infections that require aggressive treatment, IV antibiotics are administered directly into the bloodstream to combat infections quickly and effectively, and our experienced nursing team ensures precise dosing and monitoring.
- Oncology Infusions (Immunotherapy): Immunotherapy is an advanced cancer treatment that helps stimulate the body’s immune response to fight cancer cells. Our infusion therapy program offers immunotherapy to oncology patients who need specialized care in a comfortable environment close to home.
